"RESOLVE TO BE HAPPY, REGARDLESS OF OUR CIRCUMSTANCES"
This is my new motto in life. I have it hanging in my house so I can continually try and remember to do this. I loved this talk found HERE. I think that it was completely meant specifically for me.
I find it can be pretty easy to let the hard or negative things in life overtake us. There is always something hard or negative if you look for it. There is always something positive and happy as well if you look for that. It is all in our perspective and what we decide to focus on.
I love these quotes:
"External circumstances don't really matter or determine our happiness.
WE do matter. WE determine our happiness. You and I are ultimately in charge of our own happiness."
"We shouldn't wait to be happy until we reach some future point, only to discover that happiness was already available-all the time! Life is not meant to be appreciated only in retrospect. "This is the day which the Lord hath mad..." the Psalmist wrote. "Rejoice and be glad in it.""
I am continually trying to remind myself to find the positive and happiness in my life. And to not magnify the negative in current conditions.
Now do we all have days where it's hard to do this? Yes! Absolutely! And if people say they are always happy and nothing ever gets them down, they are lying! he he. Sometimes, and especially lately, there are days that are hard. Physically and emotionally. I feel done. What do I do? I entitle myself to a 5 minute pity party alone (or maybe with a phone call to my mom or sisters :)), and it usually involves a Diet Dr. Pepper as well, and then I GET OVER IT! I do just what this quote says. Resolve to be happy, regardless of my circumstances. I remind myself of all the positive and happy things in my life and resolve to be happy. Because I know I have SO SO MUCH to be grateful for. I am so truely blessed and I want to always rememer those parts and not the negative.
Just had to get my feelings out. (Because nobody even reads this abandoned blog anyways)
My words to live by:
*Resolve to spend more time with those we love.
*Resolve to strive more earnestly to become the person God wants us to be.
*Resolve to find happiness, regardless of our circumstances.
