{ PEYTON'S CAPTURED SAYINGS }

March 2011
(2 ½ years)
• I’ve been trying to get Peyton to understand the concept of lying (she likes to do this a lot). And so on occasion when I ask her something and I know she’s lying, I will ask if she’s telling the truth. Aaron said to her one day, “Peyton, you have to go potty before we leave.” Peyton said, “Dad, are you telling the truth?”

• Says “marm” for “arm”

• “Are you happy?” She says this whenever she does something bad and gets caught.

• Hallie (being silly while getting toothbrushes ready): “So..should I put toothpaste, then agua and then soap on Peyton’s toothbrush?”
Peyton: “Don’t put soap on! It will make me die!”

• Me: “Are you my little shoppin buddy?”
Peyton: “I not a buddy! I am a girl! Silly mom! You’re a goof ball!”

• “You the best daddy eber! In the whole world!” (with super exaggerated hands)

• “You want me to go to time out?” (after I caught her doing something. All I said was, “Peyton…”)

• I keep a monitor in the girls’ room and have the receiver in mine. It is so cute to hear them talk to each other at night when they are going to bed and in the morning when they’re waking up. I heard them waking up and then heard Peyton say, “I wuv you Hallie.” Hallie says, “Oh. I love you too.” So sweet.

• Peyton was blowing raspberries at the table.
Me: “Peyton, please stop doing that.”
Peyton: continues to do it and now even louder.
Me: “If you don’t stop, you’ll go on time out.”
Peyton: “Well gwanma does that!” and then does it again.

• Famous phrase: “Pickle da me! That’s my favowit movie.” (despicable me)

• We had a super fun St. Patrick’s Day and got filthy at the park. When we got home I wanted to give them a quick bath. Hallie jumped right in, but Peyton would not get her clothes off and get in. She kept crying, “I don’t want to get pinched!!” (because she wouldn’t have any green on if she took her clothes off.)

• Unfortunately Peyton inherited my indecisive gene. She cannot make a decision to save her life. She has to lay out all her choices in a straight line (books, panties, clothes, snacks, bowl color, etc) and sits there forever saying, “ummmmmm. Ummmm.” It takes her 10 years to finally pick one. And on many occasions, she will then change her mind another 10 times before she decides on it.

• Every morning, Peyton is always the first to wake up. She comes barging into my room (between 5:30 and 6:30 regardless of what time she goes to bed) and says, “Did I sweep in?”

• Peyton was watching me change Kyler’s diaper, “Why does Ky have two belly buttons?”

March 2011
(4 ½ years)

• “Mom, I’ll give you some of my money if you pick up my toys for me.”

• Hallie had her art show this month and was really excited about it. She said while getting ready, “I’m going to wear my beautiful colorfullest dress for the art show because it’s the most artist. And I’ll wear my golden sparkle shoes because they are so artiful.”

• Hallie: “Peyton! Peyton!”
Peyton: “Booger pooh booger pooh”
Hallie: “Mom! I’m trying to tell Peyton something and she won’t listen to me!!!”
Peyton: “Booger pooh. Booger pooh.”
Hallie: (super frustrated by this point) “PEYTON!!!!”…. “Oh man! I forgot what I was going to say.”
Peyton: “Nebermind Howie. Booger pooh.”

• Loves to play “dead” and “ghosts”. Not sure where she learned this, but it’s one of her favorites.

• Says “squirrel” instead of “swirl” ice cream. “Mom, can we please get squirrel ice cream?”

• Loves Kyler. Always so sweet to him.

o “Kyler’s so cute. I think he wants to marry me. He’s holding my hand.”

o “Thank you for sending this wonderful baby down to this earth.” (in her prayer)

o “I can’t stop looking at Kyler cause he’s just so cute!”

• We had a really fun day doing lots of stuff (went to Costco, played outside, got ice cream, played nonstop, etc.). At the dinner table I asked the girls, “What was your favorite part of today?” Hallie said, “I know mine. When you came up in my bed.” Hallie had gotten tired from our fun day and I found her lying in her bed. I crawled up there and snuggled for a little bit. It was so sweet. Made me realize that it’s the simple little things that mean the most to kids. A hug, kind words, snuggles, etc… beat out any toy, candy, play date, etc.

• “I didn’t even wear my jewelry!”

{ HALLIE'S ART SHOW }

During the month of February, Hallie's preschool studied different artists. With each artist the kids learned about, they got to make a piece of artwork that portrayed the style. At the beginning of March the school held an artshow for the public to come view and Hallie was SO excited! She LOVES art and is really creative. Ever since she was little she's told me that she wants to be a mommy artist when she grows up.

It was cute how paticular she was about what she looked like for her artshow. She insisted on wearing a dress. "The most colorfullest dress that looks like art" she said. And the shoes..."I have to wear my golden shoes because they are the most artiful of all!"

(I'm not sure what this new smile was she had going on this night. I was laughing because it was the same in every picture. ha ha.) We had a fun night and went out for ice cream to celebrate afterwards.

My Starry Night
(like Van Gogh)

mobiles like Alexander Calder

This was a class project the kids did for a fundraising auciton (like Jackson Pollock). When I saw this I had to smile because it gave me alot of explanation into why Hallie came home with blue paint all over in her hair one day. I couldn't imagine how she would've gotten paint clear in the back of her head. (He would take his paint brush behind his head and flick it :)).

Beautiful
(by Hallie)
"It's a picture of something beautiful"

The class made this newspaper sculpture

Hallie and her friend Alyssa

Water Lilies
(like Claude Monet)

Painting "BIG!"
(like Georgia O'Keeffe) (the orange one is hers)
This was her favorite artist. I was so surprised when she came home from school one day and just said randomly, "Georgia O'Keeffe is my favorite artist". That's quite the name for a little 4 yr. old to remember.

Hallie and her friend Clare (I love that she totally struck a pose :))

Concentric Circles
(like Wassily Kandinsky)

They each made a square of this and are hanging it up in their school. I think it looks so cool. Hallie's is the far left middle one.

Hallie loves her new teacher Ms. Shem (started in December). She's great!

{ FAMILY }

I love my little family. Everyday I'm reminded in some way how lucky I am to have a great husband and sweet little kids. They bring me so much joy.

Family pictures were very low key this year. Being 7.5 months prego, I didn't have the energy to care. Stick some clothes on, sit on a bench in front of our backyard fence, set up a tripod and voila! No stressin this year!
This is a little blurry, but I still love it. I LOVE that my girls have each other. I have two amazing sisters and I can't imagine my life without them. They are my best friends.
Yes, my sisters and I for sure had our fights. Mainly about clothes, reading each other's journals or me not keeping my "side" of the room clean (sorry Nat. Maybe you should give OB the tip of putting a line of tape down the middle of the room. ha ha!) But...we have always supported each other, had so much fun, and loved each other. They are the best! I'm so blessed.

Yesterday morning I was lying in bed and I heard the girls on the monitor waking up . They were just talking to each other and laughing. Then I heard Peyton say, "Hallie. I wuv you." Hallie said, "Oh. I love you too." It made me cry. It was just so sweet. I hope they always stay close. I'm so thankful for family and the love and joy they bring into my life.

{ Week One }

my jaundice and albino kids :). ha ha.
I stayed 24 hours at the hospital and was for sure ready to come home. (it was definitely not my 5 star hotel stay at the Iowa hospital :).) We had one day alone and then my mom came to help!!! I'm SO glad she was able to come. And SO SO glad she was able to stay for 2 weeks. She will never know how much I appreciate everything. She's the best!

A few days after she got here we had quite the run of sicknesses. Peyton got a UTI, then the pukes/stomach ache/diarrhea/fever, etc. I got a horrible sinus infection. Hallie had a double ear infection, one ruptured, then got the pukes, achy flu and everything Peyton had. And then I got it all too! Fun times!

Aaron was still on Trauma, working nights and almost 80 hours a week. So we rarely saw him. Which left my mom to have to take care of us all! Poor thing! I was seriously on the couch, completely out of it for 4 days.I don't remember the last time I was that sick. I would lather in hanitizer all over my body to feed Kyler and then hand him back over to my mom. It was so hard not to love on him. And the girls were so tired of us saying, "Don't touch Kyler! You're too close!" My mom and I were quite the germ freaks. Peyton kept saying, "Pweese I just give him a wittle squeeze? a WITTLE squeeze!"
My mom didn't sit down for a second unless I forced her to come have a drink with me. ha ha.She cleaned non stop, organized my cupboards, played a bazillion games of UNO with Hallie, taught her how to tie a bow, played and did so much with my kids, etc. Not to mention our ticket to ride nights! We loved having her here. Peyton likes to tease my mom and get a rise out of her. She thought it was so funny to say, "I don't wike Gwanma. Your a booger poop!" And she'd laugh so hard. Little stinker.

The whole way home from the airport she cried, "I want my gwanma back!" I lost count after 30 how many times she actually said it. We love you Mom! Thanks for everything! You're the best. I'm wishing you were still here with me. We have so much fun together. Even if it is cause we're getting freaked out by the creepy hand! ha ha.

If you didn't know by now, Hallie loves to celebrate! She had this great surprise for me planned and couldn't wait to ask Grandma to help her with it. She wanted to make me a cake for having a baby. She made me the cutest card that was an invitation to come to the party. But first I had to find "20 dots" on the invitation. (she wrote 20 dots and had drawn 20 dots all around the invitation for me to find.) She's so sweet. It was cute to see how excited she was about it. Thanks for humoring her mom.

So nice to have my mom put them to bed every night. They loved it.

My mom brought the girls these hula outfits back from Hawaii. They had a blast turning on some Hawaiian music and dancing around. It was so funny to watch.

They LOVE getting mail in their mailbox. Hallie seriously checks it everyday. I wish I had gotten a picture of her face when she opened it up on Valentine's day. Her jaw dropped open so wide and she was so excited. She got some fun Valentine's from Grandma Robin and Grandpa Danny and her cousins.
And I can't forget about vampire girl. Hallie's had a silly pair of these for awhile and Peyton has been so envious of them. Aaron gave them a new pair and she is so hilarious with them. She tries to sneak them in bed with her every night. And wears them all the time. She even crawls out of her bed at night with them in to scare us. ha ha.

{ Build-A-Bear Date }

Grandma Robin took the girls to Build-A-Bear while she was here. She spoiled them! They both really wanted this dog. They are obsessed with puppies lately. Hallie named her dog Luna. And Peyton named hers Mimi (she names everything this :)). They were in heaven! We both forgot our cameras, so these are all from my phone. Better than nothing right?

I turned around to find Peyton in this car. ha ha! She was hilarious. She got another car and put her dog in it right next to her.

This picture makes me laugh. We were trying so hard to get one picture of them looking and smiling. Peyton was just being a goof ball. Hallie poked her eye on the cardboard box and was pretty dramatic about it. The worker gave her an icepack to use. It was sad, but kinda funny! I just love that she wouldn't take it off for a second to let me take a picture.

Thanks Mom! You're the best.

{ Week Two }

This makes me want to be wrapped like a burrito too :). He looks so comfy.

The girls LOVE to help take care of their baby brother.

Hallie had been looking so forward to feeding Kyler a bottle since the day she found out I was pregnant. She even picked out a bib to buy him for the occasion. Please excuse the hair :).

This face cracks me up. If you could've only seen what the girls were doing to him, you would understand it completely. They LOVE their little brother so much. A little too much sometimes. They were "sharing" all their toys with him, trying to get him to hold the toys, smile at them, use their pink blankets, etc.

Grandma Robin was so much fun! She gave them pedicures and all the works. The girls thought it was awesome.
